Types of Discrimination
Direct Discrimination
Direct discrimination can happen when a person may treat another person less favourably on the grounds of the following sex, disability, race, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy maternity and paternity, religion or beliefs, gender reassignment, age or sexual orientation.
Indirect Discrimination
An application of a policy, practice or criterion takes place which an employer within the company applies for, the application could include unjustified requirements for a position which is indirect discrimination. This is when an employer is unable to fulfil the requirement which is listed but not justified clearly, such as their height or race instead of their work ethic and knowledge
Harassment
This can happen when a person has been subjected to unwanted conduct which has a purpose to violate or effect that person’s dignity. This could create a hostile, humiliating and intimidating environment for that person. This occurs when a person is subjected to unwanted conduct that has the purpose or effect of violating.
Victimisation
This can happen when a person is treated less favourably than others considering what they intend to do or give in terms of evidence
